About

Ocean paddling has become a popular recreational activity across the world. Whether at an elite level or recreationally it is important to always ensure your safety comes first.
Research into Status of Challenge/Extreme Sport and Activities in Western Australia (2007) showed that over the past 20 years there has been an emergence of new sporting forms that have presented alternatives and potential challenges to conventional sports practices. Ocean paddling is one such sport.
Many people from all walks of life, ability and experience participate in this growing sport. It is for this reason it was recognised by The Department of Sport and Recreation, Surf Life Saving WA and Canoeing WA that a set of guidelines to help all people who recreationally paddle were needed.
So whether you paddle in a club, on your own, at an elite or recreational level, for fitness or fishing, this site has been designed to help provide you with useful information so when ocean paddling, you too can – be safe.
